It’s October which means breast health awareness month and I am all in favor of stamping out breast disease. My concern is that all of these campaigns are about raising money for mammograms and have little to do with REDUCING breast cancer through action you can take today. That's why we at Huber Personalized Medicine take a different approach and want to offer a very specific plan to reduce your risk and take action that moves you further away from every needing a surgeon or oncologist.

Mammograms have been a staple of breast screening since 1990 but unfortunately, they have always had a few drawbacks:

1.    They hurt as 44 pounds of pressure is being applied to the breast.

2.    They expose the breast to radiation which increases the risk of developing cancer.

3.    The radiation and risk is higher if a woman has dense breasts or breast implants.

4.    Younger breast tissue is more sensitive to radiation than older tissue.

A woman’s decision to ever get a mammogram is one that needs careful weighing of the facts and options available. One option that I find appealing is an MRI as it doesn't expose the patient to radiation and it is a more sensitive test than a mammogram. Our plan to reduce cancer risk starts with avoiding radiation when possible and then taking action to identify risky elements and engaging lifestyle factors that encourage healthy tissue. Our program for breast health includes all of the following elements:

MRI breast imaging is significantly more sensitive for detection of breast cancer than mammograms and the huge benefit is that it doesn't use radiation. Mammograms actually cause increased risk for breast cancer and recommendations since 2009 have urged women and doctors to reduce the use of mammograms as they seemingly cause more cancer than they find. MRI does not involve compression of the breast tissue and so is much more comfortable.

Estrogen metabolites are breakdown products from the estrogen you produce and they can be measured in the urine. Your lifestyle greatly influences whether you turn estrogen into a metabolite that is good for your heart, bone and brain (4-methyl-estradiol) or whether you end up producing harmful metabolites (4-hydroxy-estradiol) that increase risk for breast cancer. Seeing these metabolites can expose potential risk and they are amenable to simple therapy to irradicate them.

Blood tests can expose breast cancer risk and help you identify corrective actions to reduce risk. Your insulin control over glucose is best measured by a challenge test, not a simple fasting glucose. Vitamin D levels have shown themselves to be insufficient in the vast majority of people and are a strong element in reducing breast cancer risk. Testosterone and DHEAS levels reduce breast cancer risk but are often deficient as we age. CRP measures overall inflammation and glutathione is key for managing proper estrogen metabolism. Don’t assume anything – know your numbers.

Risk Assessment Questionnaire – Only 2% of all breast cancer is genetic in origin. And even that 2% can be reduced with the proper lifestyle changes. Exploring your history and lifestyle will uncover more than 20 potential areas for change that dramatically reduce your risk for breast cancer and will also improve overall health.

Lifestyle Coaching & Guidance – Saying I need to make change and actually following through on change are two very different things. We all struggle to do the things that we know are healthy so don’t do it alone. Our program will identify your largest areas of risk and offer a direct simple path to make change with the accountability that gets results. You will have four, one-on-one appointments with our health coach and integrative practitioner, Chelsea, and be invited to live weekly Zoom meetings with others to share your experience.

Dr. Huber lab review - will personally review your lab results with you and define clear steps to making improvement. Dr. Huber is an internationally recognized expert in the field of hormone therapies and integrative medicine in the prevention and treatment of cancer related issues.

Hydrogen therapy is a simple, safe and effective way to kick your body’s detoxification into high gear as it simultaneously reduces bodily inflammation. Studies show that hydrogen can be an excellent cancer treatment adjunct.  See the article on our website offering more detail about hydrogen therapy.

Detoxification IV Therapy – you will receive Ozone along with Glutathione to enhance your detox pathways and support cellular energy. Ozone enhances killer cell function to increase your defenses while glutathione is your primary antioxidant that removes unhealthy estrogen metabolites.

Estrogen Clearance support – your treatment includes a supplemental product called Hormone Balance from Thorne research. This supplement contains sulforaphane, a cruciferous vegetable extract researched at Johns Hopkins Hospital and shown to be an excellent tool for reducing cancer risk in hormone related cancers.

If purchased individually these elements would total $2,988. But can engage all of this for just $1,599 during our Breast Health Awareness Month special. And you can engage this with confidence as every element of this program has shown benefit in the medical literature and is backed by our guarantee of satisfaction. We Guarantee – If at the end of the program you don’t feel that you gained a keener insight to breast cancer risk and reduced your overall risk to your satisfaction then we will refund 50% of the cost of the program to be used on other products or services within our practice. I don’t want your money, I want your confidence that you are on a good path toward your own personal health.
